The Hypnoanalytic Treatment of a Case of Amnesia: John G. Watkins (Time 45 minutes)

A motorcycle accident in a patient, who suffered severe brain damage and aphasia, was followed by a retrograde amnesia for all his previous life. Through suggestive hypnosis and an abreactive re-living of the accident the patient recovers his memory and returns to normal living and working. Techniques of treating amnesia are pointed out.

Early Life Abreaction, The Trauma of Birth: Helen H. Watkins. (Time 35 minutes)

A student with a life-long "block" at study and achievement, "apparently" re-lives (motorically) under hypnosis the experience of a difficult (and "blocked") birth. Communication is by finger-signal techniques. Following this "birth abreaction" the "block" ceases to exist. The case is related to Rank's "Trauma of Birth" theories.

John G. Watkins, Ph.D., and Helen H. Watkins, M.A., 413 Evans Street, Missoula, MT 59801.
